Introduction to Printmaking | 6-Week Beginner Course in Rowde Devizes Wiltshire
Thursdays, 3pm til 6pm - starts 5th March 2026 and finishes 23rd April 2026
Course Description:
This hands-on 6-week course offers a welcoming introduction to printmaking, ideal for beginners or anyone looking to reconnect with their creativity. In a relaxed, calm environment surrounded by trees and greenery at The Mind Tree Cafe, you’ll explore a range of traditional and experimental printmaking techniques while building confidence week by week.
Throughout the course, you’ll be guided through linocut, woodcut, card cuts, drypoint and monoprinting, learning how each process creates its own distinctive marks, textures and visual effects. You’ll be shown how to design an image for print, safely use tools, prepare and ink plates, print by hand and use the Albion relief press and etching presses.
The course encourages curiosity and experimentation alongside skill-building. You’ll explore mark-making, texture, layering and colour, and gain an understanding of key printmaking principles such as reversed images, registration and simple editioning.
No prior experience is needed. The emphasis is on learning through doing, enjoying the process, and developing your own visual language at your own pace. By the end of the six weeks, you’ll have a small collection of original prints and a solid foundation in multiple printmaking techniques to take forward into future creative projects.
