Sense-Drawing with Nature : An online taster experience of being, creativity and connection, Sunday 4 October, 2 - 4 PM
Sense-Drawing with Nature - an online workshop taster experience
Join me for a thoughtful online exploration of being, creativity and connection.
What happens when we stop trying to draw something and instead give ourself the permission for drawing to become a way of noticing, sensing and being?
This gentle, guided online session invites you to step away from the busyness of everyday life and spend two hours exploring nature through your senses, mark-making, writing and reflection.
Date:
Sunday 4 October
Time:
2pm - 4pm
Where:
Online (Zoom) - the registration link will be emailed to you separately
Make a little space in your Sunday afternoon to slow down, reconnect and draw-in the natural world like a deep breath.
You’ll be guided throughout, with plenty of quiet time to listen, notice and respond.
No drawing experience is needed. This is not about producing a beautiful finished picture and nobody will have their drawing judged.

A CREATIVE PAUSE FOR YOU
This session is especially for busy people who need some quiet, creative ‘me time’.
Perhaps you’re interested in creativity as a way of supporting your wellbeing. Maybe you’re looking for a new way into drawing, or simply want to make more space for creativity in your life.
You don’t need to consider yourself an artist.
You just need a little curiosity and a willingness to slow down.
During the session, you’ll be invited to:
- Find a natural object that has personal meaning or catches your attention
- Explore it closely through your senses and being
- Make marks in response to what you notice
- Connect through drawing and writing
- Listen, reflect and share in gentle discussion
- Use journalling as a way to explore your experience
You’ll be encouraged to work intuitively rather than worry about what a drawing should look like.
There is no right answer.
DRAWING AS A FORM OF ATTENTION
A way of listening.
A way of connecting.
A way of being.
You’ll leave with a unique sensory drawing, and hopefully with a new perspective on creativity, reflective writing and the relationship between yourself and the natural world.
TIME TO RECONNECT AND JUST BE
The session takes place at the turn of the season, as autumn begins to arrive. It’s a natural moment for reconnection and retreat, a chance to pause before the busier winter months take hold and to find a little stillness.
ABOUT ME
I’m Hannah Cantellow, a multidisciplinary artist, poet and creative guide.
My passion is reconnecting people with the natural world through creativity and exploring different ways of being.
My love of geology and walking informs much of my own artwork, and I’m always intrigued by what lies just beneath the surface.
I’m an experienced teacher and printmaker with over 15 years of practice. Guiding people towards new pathways, whether creatively, personally or spiritually, which has become a central part of my work as a socially engaged artist.
What you'll need for the session:
- Drawing paper
- Charcoal (I recommend Natural Willow Charcoal sticks - available from your local art shop or online)
- A natural object that has some meaning for you - don't overthink this
- A quiet space where you can work undisturbed - with no mobile phone/or disruptive technology
- An internet connection and a laptop to join the session
The session will not be recorded, creating a safe and present space for all taking part.
Alongside your sensory drawing, you’ll take away:
- A new way of approaching drawing
- Creative practices you can return to when you need some headspace
- Reflective writing and journalling prompts
- A deeper sense of connection with nature
- Time and space to listen to yourself
- New connections with others
- Hopefully, a feeling of being a little more grounded...

Sense-Drawing with Nature: Frequently Asked Questions
I’m not very creative. Is this for me?
Absolutely. You don’t need to think of yourself as an artist or have any previous drawing experience and if you do, that’s great!
There’s no right or wrong way to do it. You can be curious, experimental and playful.
I’m not based in the UK. Can I still join?
Yes! As this is an online workshop, you can join from anywhere in the world.
The session will take place at 2PM UK time (GMT/BST), so please check the time difference where you are before booking.
I’m not great with computers or technology. What do I need to do?
You don’t need to be particularly confident with technology.
You’ll need a computer or laptop with an internet connection, and a quiet space where you can just be comfortable.
I’ll send you clear joining instructions before the session, so you’ll know exactly what to do.
You won’t need any specialist software or complicated equipment.
If you can join an ordinary online meeting, you should be able to join this session.
What do I need to bring?
You’ll need:
- Some drawing paper
- Charcoal
- A natural object that you’d like to explore…perhaps a stone, leaf, shell, seed, piece of bark or something that has personal meaning
- A sketchbook or notebook if you’d like to write or journal
- A quiet, comfortable space where you can work
You don’t need to buy expensive art materials. Ordinary paper and charcoal are fine.
If you don’t already have charcoal, you can usually find inexpensive drawing charcoal in your local art shop, craft shop or online.
Do I need to prepare anything beforehand?
The main thing is to choose a natural object to bring with you.
It might simply be something you notice during a walk or find at home that sparks your curiosity.
I can’t make this date. Will there be other sessions?
I hope to offer further Sense-Drawing with Nature sessions in the future.
If you’re interested but can’t make this date, please join my mailing list so you can hear about future dates first.
I prefer in-person workshops. Do you offer those?
Yes. My main programme includes in-person workshops and experiences at my studio at The Mind Tree in Rowde, near Devizes, Wiltshire.
I can’t join live. Will the session be recorded?
No. The session will not be recorded.
This is intentional. I want the workshop to feel like a small, present and private space where you can slow down, listen and explore without worrying about being recorded.
If you can’t attend live, I’d recommend waiting for a future session rather than booking a place you won’t be able to use.
Do I have to share my drawings or personal thoughts with the group?
There will be opportunities for gentle conversation and sharing, but no-one will be forced to share.
Is this a mindfulness or therapy session?
It has some qualities that you may recognise from mindfulness, slowing down, noticing, listening and becoming more aware of your surroundings, but it isn’t a therapy session or a clinical mindfulness course.
It’s a creative workshop exploring nature, sensory awareness, drawing and reflection.
You can take from it whatever feels useful to you.
What if I don’t know what to draw?
I’ll guide you through the process with prompts to help you notice your natural object in different ways.
The aim is not to know exactly what you’re going to make before you begin. It’s to slow down, explore and see what emerges.
What will I get from the session?
Everyone’s experience will be different, but you might leave with a new way of approaching drawing, some useful creative practices, a greater sense of connection with nature, or simply the feeling that you’ve given yourself two hours to pause.
You’ll also create a unique sensory drawing and have the opportunity to explore reflective writing.
Most importantly, I hope you’ll leave feeling that you’ve made some space for yourself, your creativity and your connection with the natural world.
Still not sure if it’s for you?
If you have a question that isn’t answered here, please get in touch . I’m very happy to answer questions before you book.
