Walking Sketchbooks 1-day Drawing Workshops:

Combine creativity, observation, and outdoor exploration during my Walking Sketchbooks Workshops! We will be visiting locations in and around Rowde, Roundway, the Kennet & Avon Canal and Avebury in Wiltshire. Perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike, this workshop encourages you to develop your sketchbook as a tool for recording impressions, ideas, and experiences while moving through beautiful landscapes. These will not be hikes, but you will need a good level of fitness. We will travel from the studio by car/car share to further locations. Good footwear for walking, layers and waterproofs will be required. Please bring your own sketchbook and drawing materials.

During the day, you’ll explore:

• On-location sketching techniques: quick studies, perspective and mark-making
• Using your sketchbook as a creative tool to capture shapes, colours, textures, and atmosphere
• Drawing on the move: capturing dynamic landscapes, architecture, and natural forms
• Experimenting with media: pencil, pen, ink and mixed media
• Responding to drawings in the print studio after lunch

I will guide you on some of my favourite walks and between locations provide both inspiration and structure, while encouraging play, experimentation, and observation. By the end of the day, you’ll have a personal sketchbook full of rich, original drawings and new approaches to recording the world around you.

Suitable for: Beginners to experienced sketchers, those looking to start a new project or get inspired!
Materials: Bring your own sketchbook and preferred drawing tools; some materials can be provided (print studio)
Outcome: A sketchbook filled with observational drawings, creative experiments, and personal reflections.
